Grade 8 exams to be held in December and February

Ministry of Education has decided to hold the exams for students currently in Grade 8 in two different phases.

Previously, the ministry had planned to conduct exams in all subjects for Grade 8 students between February 15 to 27 next year.

In a memo sent to all schools on last Thursday, the ministry said that in view of the advice from many principals in the policy meeting, they have now decided to have stream selections for Grade 8 students after the second term mid-term break.

Streams in which exams will be held in the first phase

- Combined Science, Combined Business, Mathematics exams to be from December 14 to 19

- Social Studies, Health and PE, Creative Arts exams, as well as Formative Assessments to be taken during this time

Streams in which exams will be held in the second phase

- Islam, Dhivehi, English exams to be from February 15 to 20

- Term tests for Grade 8 students to be held from February 8 to 22

Although this changes have been brought, assessments for learning will continue to be conducted, the ministry said. The ministry added that second term report forms must be issued to all students on February 17, 2025.
