Pain Clinic has begun offering the minimally invasive procedure used for pain management, Radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTC).

RFTC is a procedure which inserts a needle used to transmit radiofrequency waves in order to create sufficient heat for coagulating the nerve and render it ineffective in sending pain signals to the brain. This treatment has been used for over three decades and has reportedly demonstrated great success in reducing pain of various long-term chronic pain syndromes as well as pain conditions untreated through traditional methods using state-of-the art technology.

Pain Clinic also stated that the procedure involves a small needle for the treatments as opposed to opting for a large surgery.

The clinic said that the patient will be relieved of pain without incurring any damages to tissues or other nerves as a result of radiofrequency waves which accurately targets a specific nerve during the treatments using ultrasound. They added that the procedure has been proven to provide relief from pain for countless patients over the years and assured that the procedure can be redone if further pain is detected.

The procedure facilitates temporary or permanent discontinuation from long-term medication for successful patients while also allowing several patients to return back to their day to day life just a few days after completing the procedure.

Conditions treated through RFTC procedure

- Neck and back pain caused by arthritis or degenerative disk disease

- Knee pain caused by osteoarthritis or surgeries

- Hip pain caused by surgical operations or arthritis

- Joint pain such as arthritis

- Pain caused by nerve damages

- Chronic pain from diseases such as cancer

- Pain caused by diseases such as endometrioses

The first to specialize in the treatments of pain management in Maldives, Pain Clinic also offers several additional treatments for such conditions. Founder of Daradia hospital in India, Dr. Gautam Das as well as Dr Suspa Das is also scheduled to consult patients at the clinic until July 8. Doctors from the Daradia hospital frequently consult patients at the Pain Clinic as visiting doctors each month.

The clinic now accepts appointments booked on viber through their official number, +960 7260891 as well.

Pain Clinic is situated on the fourth floor of the Hiyaakuri building located in the Galolhu ward on Alikilegefaanu Magu.
