Former GMIZ MD becomes new State Minister of Tourism Ministry

The former Managing Director of Greater Male' Industrial Zone (GMIZ) has been appointed as the new State Minister of the Ministry of Tourism.

Former GMIZ Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed has been alleged with gross misconduct in contracting a foreign company to destroy an unused vessel at the harbor of Thilafushi; the industrial hub in Greater Male' Region.

The State-Owned Enterprise Committee of the Maldives Parliament had found Mr. Rasheed culpable of the misconduct after its inquiry.

Although the committee had ruled on strict punitive action against Mr. Rasheed and the company's former seniors, no action was brought into effect.
