MTCC has been awarded the contract to build a new immigration office in Haa Alifu atoll Uligan, to expand immigration services in the area.

The agreement was signed today by MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee and Immigration Controller Ahmed Faseeh.

Currently, Uligan provides immigration services from a small space in a MNDF building, primarily offering seaport services.

However, with the construction of the new building, Uligan will be able to offer a wider range of immigration services, including passport and visa processing, alongside immigration clearance for passengers and crew of foreign vessels.

Uligan, a key stopping point for foreign yachts crossing the Red Sea to Europe from countries like Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, and Thailand, sees around 100-150 yachts docking annually.

The new immigration office will improve services for these yachts, especially in light of the international bunkering service launched in Ihavandhipolhu.
