President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih nominated Ahmed Imad as the new deputy governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and forwarded his name to the parliament for deliberation.
Hailing from Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll, Imad is currently the executive director of MMA's Monetary Policy Research and Statistics Division.
He has been serving at MMA for over 20 years till date.
Imad attained his Masters of Science in Economics and Finance from the UK, and Bachelor of Business (Economics and Science) in Malaysia.
In addition to MMA, Imad is also a board member of Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA).
He was formerly on the Privatization and Corporatization Board.
The position of deputy governor at MMA was left vacant following the retirement of Aishath Zahira on July 22, after a tenure of 31 years at the central bank.
