Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have successfully concluded the "Girls to Code" program for girls in Haa Alifu atoll's Dhidhdhoo.

The initiative, part of a series aimed at encouraging girls' participation in coding, seeks to empower young females across the country by promoting engagement in technology.

Through the program, participants learned coding skills, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

This edition of "Girls to Code" targeted girls aged 10 to 13 with no prior coding experience. Over the course of the two-month program, the participants developed their coding skills and created their own websites.

Bishara Hameed, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu, highlighted the importance of introducing coding at an early age.

“The main goal of the program is to help children explore the field of coding at a young age, spark their interest, and build their self confidence by believing that it’s possible,” she said.

Nahza Ibrahim, President of Women in Tech Maldives, said that the program would equip the children with valuable technical skills and contribute to building a promising future for them.

The "Girls to Code" program, a key part of Dhiraagu’s CSR efforts to empower women, has also been conducted in Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhdhoo, Fuvahmulah City, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Laamu atoll.
