Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) was crowned World's Leading Airport Resort for an eighth time at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2018.
HIH received the accolade at the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony held at the historic Pátio da Galé in Lisbon, Portugal, earlier this month.
The four-star hotel beat out Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa of the United States, Hotel Hyatt Regency Hua Hin of Thailand, and Jetwing Beach of Sri Lanka for the accolade, marking HIH's eighth consecutive win since it first brought the award home in 2011.
Located in Hulhule island which houses the main gateway of Maldives, Velana International Airport, HIH features 136 suites and a private beach, outdoor pool and golf course.
The World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all areas of tourism worldwide. The WTA galas are attended by the industry elite, including government leaders and international media.
