President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that much of the world is in a state of crisis, many of which are man-made.

He highlighted the ongoing genocide in Gaza by Israel, calling it 'a travesty of justice and the international system'.

He condemned the continued indiscriminate killing of civilians, including men, women, children and infants, and the overwhelming destruction of homes, hospitals, schools and humanitarian infrastructure.

"The world is struggling to process the deaths of so many civilians in Gaza and now Israeli raids in Lebanon are claiming hundreds more civilians lives there. Their cries haunt anyone with humanity. Their tears, bitter on our conscience," he said.

The President went on to condemn Israel's targeted killing of journalists and attacks against media.

"Israel must be held accountable for these acts of terrorism, for these violations of international law & UN resolutions," President Muizzu asserted.

He called on the UN to accept a sovereign and independent State of Palestine on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

"We welcome the decision to seat our brothers and sisters from Palestine with us here in the General Assembly, for the first time, instead of behind us. Now, we must ensure that Palestine becomes a full member of the UN."
