Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom was discharged from the hospital on Friday evening.
The former president tweeted at around 7:00 p.m., confirming he had been released and that he was doing well.
He thanked the staff of the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and everyone who wished him well in the few hours he was hospitalised.
Gayyoom is still in good health; he tested positive for Covid-19 in 2020, but made a full recovery.
Gayyoom's Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) is part of the ruling coalition. He was Maldives' president for 30 years, from 1978 until 2008.
