Fathimath Ashaan, who previously served as the Senior General Manager of State Trading Organisation (STO) has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM).
STO confirmed Ashaan's appointment to the state-owned fuel company which operates under STO, marking the first time a woman has been appointed as the Managing Director of a company under the STO Group.
Apart from her previous posting as Senior General Manager at STO, she also served as the Deputy CEO of MIFCO.
Ashaan holds a Diploma in Business (Information Technology) from the Hobart Institute of Technical and Further Education in 1994, Australia. She also has a Masters in Business Administration from KDU College, Malaysia. She received government awards in 1995 and 2004 for her achievements in both programmes.
Ashaan was appointed as the Managing Director of FSM following the resignation of Ismail Suhail on November 26. Suhail was appointed to the post on December 5 last year.
Suhail resigned as FSM MD amidst a police investigation into allegations that the company's employees stole fuel from FSM and laundered the proceeds.
