National airline Maldivian has introduced Premium Economy class on domestic flights.

Previously, only economy class tickets were sold for their domestic flights.

Island Aviation said that Premium Economy class will be introduced from April 13 onwards. With this, passengers will receive better services in domestic flights, they said.

Premium economy passengers will be given a baggage allowance of 25kg. They will also be granted priority in date changes and check in. Passengers in this class will also be able to use the Moonima Lounge at the airport, with meals also provided.

In addition to Male', passengers travelling from Dharavandhoo and Ifuru will also be able to use lounges, the company said. Meals during flights will also be better than economy class. Premium Economy passengers will also be the first to receive baggage after arrival.

Maldivian is now selling Premium Economy tickets. Ticket bookings can be made via the airline's website or mobile application.

With Maldivian conducting a large number of flights in the domestic sector, the company aims to improve these services, they said. The company has also decided to renew all planes used for domestic flights within the year, with plans to acquire three new ATRs.
