Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal has reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to promoting tourism sustainably while protecting the environment.

Attending the World Travel Market (WTM) in the UK, the world’s largest tourism fair, Minister Faisal represented the Maldives at the Commonwealth Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism meeting.

Regenerative tourism focuses on minimizing environmental harm and supporting local communities.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Faisal called for urgent action to protect the environment, emphasizing that preserving natural resources is essential for future generations.

In a post on social media following the meeting, he highlighted the importance of collective efforts to redefine tourism with practices that safeguard the environment and support communities.

Faisal confirmed that the Maldives would fully support the Commonwealth’s initiatives to promote sustainability in tourism.

WTM provides tourism professionals an opportunity to strengthen business relationships, connect with international travel agencies, and conduct business-to-business meetings.

The Minister has earlier announced plans to promote Addu City tourism at the fair.
