MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree has been elected as a Board Member of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), one of the leading tourism organizations in Asia.
MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree has been elected as a Board Member of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), one of the leading tourism organizations in Asia.
PATA's Board Members lead the organization and are elected through a vote amongst member governments on persons nominated by the members.
The PATA Board consists of seven members. In addition to Shiuree, the board has members from Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan.
PATA was established in 1951 and has 95 member countries. The PATA Annual Summit is a major global event, with the association also awarding tourism and travel related awards.
Shiuree stated that being a Board Member of PATA would pave the path for further promotion and development of tourism in the Maldives. He noted that there are 27 member airlines and travel agencies from across the world working with PATA, with whom tourism promotion plans for the Maldives can be explored.
