The State has appealed the High Court's interim order to halt the Gulhi Falhu reclamation Project at the Supreme Court today. The State further appealed to the Supreme Court to issue a stay of implementation on the High Court's order.

In response to a case filed by a private individual at the Civil Court claiming environmental damage from the project, the High Court issued an interim order yesterday instructing that all work related to the Gulhi Falhu reclamation project be halted until the case is concluded in Civil Court.

Attorney General Ahmed Usham confirmed that the State has submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court today.

The State has previously said that the halt of the Gulhi Falhu project would cause daily losses of millions to the State.

However, yesterday's High Court ruling stated that in comparison, the financial loss the halting of the project may cause the State appears much less significant than the loss the continuation of the project would cause the environment.
