The airport being developed on Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, Faresmaathoda is now 85 percent complete, The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has reported.
According to the contractor, the airport's runway, apron, and taxiway are all 90 percent finished.
The project’s scope includes sub-base and subgrade development for the runway, apron, fire pad, and fire road, as well as the construction of a fire building and an airport terminal. The airport’s runway has a length of 1,200 meters.
MTCC was contracted the project in November 2020 for a project value of MVR 145 million. They were contracted to complete the project in under one year and eight months.
Besides Faresmaathoda airport, MTCC is currently developing domestic airports in Raa atoll, Alifushi and Meemu atoll, Muli.
