China and Maldives have a long standing bilateral relationship.
Clarifying the most urgent needs of the Maldives during a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today, Chinese ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin pledged the country's support for such needs.
During the meeting, the President and the Ambassador addressed the issues highlighted during President Dr. Muizzu's state visit to China earlier this year, and avenues to expedite implementation of agreed projects, the President's Office said.
Ambassador Wang assured the president that the Chinese government is ready to provide its assistance to address the Maldives' most urgent needs and highlighted the close ties between both countries.
Other areas of discussion focused on possible future collaborations between both countries to promote Maldives' tourism.
Both President Dr. Muizzu and Ambassador Wang reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, towards the end of the meeting.
