Relentless rainfall experienced by Male' City from the early hours of Tuesday morning had flooded nearly all streets in the city with water seeping into some households. The flash floods caused by heavy rain had affected 183 houses, resulting in three evacuations. MNDF officers had proceeded several efforts to drain water from the city roads which had impeded ease of travel for pedestrians and drivers alike. MET office had also issued an orange alert from Kaafu atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu atoll between 14:15 hrs to 18:15 hrs yesterday. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had decared today a public holiday due to heavy rain and flooding in Male' City to provide an ease for students and office workers.
