President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the 5 Million Trees Plantation Program that he had announced at the COP28 conference last year. The project was launched at Lonuziyaarai Park on Wednesday. Accompanying the President at the ceremony were First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, as well as Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and his wife. Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Male' City Mayor, Adam Azim, Cabinet Ministers and other senior State officials had also attended the ceremony. Planting 5 million trees within 5 years to make the Maldives a greener environment in order to mitigate climate change is a presidential pledge of President Muizzu.
