Zareer was taken to the hospital after experiencing chest pains later in the evening, where he passed away.
Laamu Atoll Maabaidhoo Council member Hassan Zareer passed away yesterday.
A council member told Mihaaru News that Zareer, 58, had no known health issues and passed away suddenly.
"He attended a council session yesterday as part of the 'Hashiheyo Dhulhaheyo Week' celebrations from 13:15 to 14:00," the council member said.
Zareer was taken to the hospital after experiencing chest pains later in the evening, where he passed away.
Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef expressed his condolences to Zareer’s family.
Maabaidhoo Council consists of five members.
