"Haveeru" and "Mihaaru" recognize Binma's 31 years of service

Throughout his career, Binma has written 1,073 stories, including short stories, novels, and series, and has published over 100 novels.

Renowned novelist "Binma" Ibrahim Waheed has been writing stories for Haveeru and Mihaaru newspapers for 31 years, and his dedicated service has been recognized by the newspaper today.

At a meeting held at the Mihaaru News office this morning, Haveeru News Chairman Dr Mohamed Zahir Hussain presented Binma with a certificate of appreciation. He was also gifted a framed copy of his first novel, "Ehenas", which he wrote for Haveeru newspaper on January 31, 1994.

The event was attended by Mihaaru News Executive Director Vaail Zahir Hussain and Editor Ahmed Hamdhoon.

Binma wrote weekly stories for Haveeru from 1994 until the newspaper shut down in 2016. Since then, he has continued his work with Mihaaru News, which was established by Haveeru’s management in the same year.

He said that he prioritizes writing his weekly stories for the paper, and ensures that they are completed before starting any other work.

His stories have remained popular among readers of both Haveeru and Mihaaru, earning him a large and devoted audience.

His most famous novel, "Fathishandhuvaru", was published in Haveeru newspaper in 1995. The story was later adapted into a film by Slam Studios in 1997, becoming one of the most successful movies ever made in Maldives.

Throughout his career, Binma has written 1,073 stories, including short stories, novels, and series, and has published over 100 novels.

He has also contributed as a screenwriter, penning screenplays for many films. He also wrote the screenplay for Bukhari Films' 1995 film "Haqqu". His work also includes "Kaththiri", the most successful television drama series ever made in the Maldives, which was based on a screenplay he wrote.
