According to posts circulating on social media, CCTV footage from a nearby shop captured someone allegedly performing sorcery near the café. As a result, island residents have taken to social media calling for the person's arrest.
There have been previous cases of sorcery where homes in various islands were searched and some people were arrested. Recently, police also conducted searches of homes in Raa atoll Alifushi and Raa atoll Meedhoo in connection with a sorcery case.
