DFAT First Assistant Secretary calls on Foreign Secretary Ghafoor

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)'s First Assistant Secretary Dr Lachlan Strahan, on Monday, held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed.

During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Ghafoor thanked Dr Strahan for his visit in commemoration of 45 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both diplomats discussed possibilities to further bolster existing ties and explore new areas for bilateral cooperation.

Further, the Foreign Secretary conveyed his appreciation for the continuous support in the field of human resource development.

The Foreign Secretary and the First Assistant Secretary also exchanged views on addressing mutual concerns through the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

At the meeting, Foreign Secretary Ghafoor was accompanied by Shiuneen Rasheed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fathimath Razana, Assistant Director, while the First Assistant Secretary was accompanied by Australian Ambassador to Maldives David Holly and a delegation from the DFAT.
