Maldivian doctors now have the opportunity to intern at five foreign hospitals.
Ministry of Health said today that they are also working on increasing internship opportunities in local hospitals. They said that arrangements are now being made to offer internships at government hospitals.
Due to difficulties in getting internship opportunities, many go to Bangladesh after completing their MBBS. Previously, the opportunity was only granted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Health Ministry said that in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, medical internship opportunities at an additional five colleges have now been confirmed.
These are:
- Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College
- Mymensingh Medical College
- Rajshahi Medical College
- Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura
- Cox's Bazaar Medical College
All five colleges are accepted by both countries' medical and dental council.
The ministry said that those interested in interning at these hospitals can email their requests to [email protected].
