President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia and Oman on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

During his meeting with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and head of the Saudi delegation, President Muizzu expressed gratitude for the continuous support from the Saudi government in the development of the Maldives and acknowledged the close, brotherly relations between the two nations.

President Muizzu highlighted key areas where further assistance is needed, including fiscal reform, education, healthcare, and economic development, while also addressing issues related to the Hajj pilgrimage.

The Saudi Foreign Minister affirmed that the Saudi government would continue to provide aid across various sectors and indicated willingness to consider increasing the Hajj quota for Maldives.

Budgetary support requested from Oman

President Muizzu also met with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman and head of the Omani delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed gratitude for the continued support from the Omani government and outlined his administration's development agenda, President's Office said.

"President Muizzu identified several crucial areas that require additional assistance, including budgetary support, infrastructure development, and training local teachers to enhance human capacity," the President's Office stated.

President Muizzu is meeting with various global leaders and heads of international organizations during his first official visit to the United States.
