The agency reported that demand for visas has surged as authorities intensify efforts to address the issue of undocumented expatriates in Maldives.
On Tuesday, Immigration issued 1,069 work visas which is the highest number issued in a single day.
To address applicant concerns, Immigration began issuing queue numbers from "Ant Queue" application in May, allowing applicants to obtain token numbers to address their visa concerns.
- Applicants with five or fewer passports can take token numbers from 09:00 to 10:30 hrs, with service hours from 10:00 to 15:00 hrs.
- Applicants with six or more passports can take token numbers from 11:30 to 12:30 hrs, with service hours from 13:15 to 15:00 hrs.
Addressing the issue of undocumented expatriates is a key government priority. Over the past 10 months, more than 4,000 undocumented expatriates have been deported, with ongoing raids to locate those residing illegally.
