Justice Hussein Shaheed, recently appointed to the Supreme Court, has been assigned as a member to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The most recent Supreme Court judge serving on the JSC was former judge Husnu'ssood. However, he resigned last month after being suspended in connection with an investigation launched by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Shaheed was appointed to the Supreme Court last week, and today the Court's judicial council decided to appoint him to the JSC, replacing Suood.
In addition to the Supreme Court, judges from the High Court and lower courts also serve on the JSC.
Shaheed, who previously served as the chief judge of the High Court, was appointed to that court in March 2018. Before that, he was a judge at the Criminal Court, where he was appointed in January 2018.
