By-elections are underway for six local council seats. Polling which began at 08:00 hrs today will close at 16:00 hrs in the evening.
Polling is currently underway for six local council by-elections, which began at 08:00 hrs this morning.
By-elections are being held for the following positions:
- Faafu Atoll Bileddhoo Council President
- Kulhudhuffushi City Council, North Kulhudhuffushi Constituency Member
- Male' City Council, Hulhumale' Constituency Member
- Male' City Council, Central Machangolhi Constituency Member
- Male' City Council, West Henveiru Constituency Member
- Female Members for Raa Atoll Rasmaadhoo Council

A total of 25 polling stations have been set up in Malé City and other islands for the by-elections.
Many of the polling booths in Malé are located in tents at Henveiru Stadium and Jamaluddin School. In Hulhumalé, polling stations have been set up at Rehendhi School and Kaamil Didi Preschool.
As of 10:00 hrs today, a total of 669 people have cast their votes, including 234 females and 435 males. This represents 5.1 percent of the 13,112 eligible voters for this by-election.
Voting for the by-elections will close at 16:00 hrs.
