A Sri Lankan who stole money from a store register in Malé has been ordered by the Criminal Court to be remanded in custody pending trial.

The person arrested in the case is a 24-year-old Sri Lankan named Vijendrawaduge Nirasha Rasalee.

The Criminal Court ordered that she be kept in detention until the trial is completed. According to the court order, the decision to detain her until trial was made because she is a Sri Lankan citizen, and there is a possibility that she might flee.

The court order also states that there is sufficient evidence to support the allegations against her.

The court order mentioned that based on the suspect's statements, the submitted testimonies, and CCTV grabs, it is believed that she took money from the store's register.

However, the court order does not specify how much money she allegedly took.
