The Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has visited the Maldives for discussions.
The FAO DG Mr. Qu Dongyu visited the island nation from 07th to 08th March on an official invitation of the Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Mr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.
Mr. Dongyu was accompanied by the organization's Chief of Economy Mr. Mazimo Torrero along with other senior officials of FAO.
During his visit, Mr. Dongyu met with cabinet members including the ministers of tourism, environment, health as well as the Maldives Vice-President Mr. Faisal Naseem.
He had engaged in several discussions with the Maldivian dignitaries which included discourse on digitalizing the efforts of meeting the objectives of the SDG framework.
Following his trip to the Maldives, Mr. Dongyu is expected to fly to Dhaka, Bangladesh for the 36th Food and Agriculture Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
