MWSC celebrates 30th anniversary, more celebratory plans ahead

Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has revealed its plans to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary.

In a press released issued on Tuesday on the occasion marking three decades of service, MWSC announced plans to celebrate the anniversary with a children’s evening, a blood drive, a tree planting program and several other customer-focused programs.

MWSC also said it is working to provide water and sewerage services to different parts of the country with 17 water and 15 sewerage projects scheduled for this year. Some of these projects have already started while others are being planned, the company said.

The company said it currently serves about 50 percent of the Maldivian population and that their biggest goal this year is to ensure water security. The organisation also plans to increase its water production capacity by 26 percent and water storage capacity by 28 percent by the end of this year.

MWSC revealed that the company has also completed a large portion of one of its biggest projects this year - connecting the Malé and Hulhumalé's water network, which would have the capacity to pump 800 tonnes of water per hour between Malé and Hulhumalé.

At the moment, MWSC's water production capacity is at 47,300 cubic meters per day with a storage capacity of 44,858 cubic meters per day. However, the company forecasts that with new projects, these numbers will increase and the capacity to provide water services would expand.

The utility company also said that many steps have been taken to ensure customer satisfaction, including the introduction of a 24-hour customer care call centre, and an online portal for customers to send in requests round the clock. MWSC said they have also upgraded their mobile application have installed smart metres to track water usage.

The company is also working to improve the capacity of its employees to improve the quality of services, MWSC said.

MWSC is engaged in water and sewerage as well as engineering, trading and manufacturing. The company designs, installs and operates water and sewerage systems and also provides designing and fabricating services for water plants. The company's showroom also sells world-renowned brands of water and sewerage products.

Additionally, the company's ISO standard laboratory provides commercial water analysis services to resorts and technical consultants.

The company also manufactures bottled water from its factory in Hulhumalé and various sizes of conduit pipes for water and sewerage works, water wiring and also electrical wiring from its pipe factory in K. Gulhifalhu.

MWSC aims to expand its water and sewerage services by participating in innovative activities in more areas, the company said.
