High Court has presented a posthumous award to late Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman, father of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, in recognition of his service at the court.

High Court has presented a posthumous award to late Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman, father of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, in recognition of his service at the court.

Awards were presented last night to Judges who had served at the High Court in a ceremony held to mark the court's 44th anniversary. The event was held at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education.

A judicial gown was presented as an award for late Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman, which was received by President Muizzu, the former judge's only child.

Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman, also a religious scholar, served as a High Court Judge in 1980, when the High Court was first established. He later served as Deputy Attorney General as well.

He was a law graduate from Al Azhar University. He also authored many books through his love of spreading knowledge.

Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman also received a National Award for spreading religious awareness and expanding religious education during the administration of former President Dr Mohamed Waheed in 2013.
