Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) MP for South Galolhu Meekail Ahmed Naseem has been removed from parliament after his name was announced.

Meekail was removed from the parliament chambers after he continued to repeatedly raise procedural points while Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan was presenting his response to the allegations raised against him in the no confidence motion submitted against him by MDP.

In his response, Ihusan addressed each allegation against him separately.

Meekail took up procedural points and went on to respond to Ihusan's statements. With Ihusan raising allegations against some MDP MPs present in todays hearing, and some absent, Meekail responded that this cannot be allowed.

Initially, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla adviced Meekail twice to refrain from taking up procedural points in this manner, and warned that he would be removed if he continued doing so.

With Meekail persisting, Abdul Raheem then announced his name. Meekail was escorted out after he failed to comply even when Sergeant at Arms Tholhath Hassan advised him. He was removed through assistance from six security personnel.

Meekail then took to X, where he claimed he had remained in his seat while raising procedural points, and that he was removed against parliament regulations.
