GATHERING Chapter VII marks a 10-year milestone with the return of key acts and new generation talent this May. After a long hiatus this return signals more than just a concert, and more of a promise of revival of a platform that has been a cornerstone of the alternative live music culture in the Maldives since 2015.

The story of GATHERING was launched back in 2015 as a small underground initiative turned into a recognized live music platform, steadily building a loyal audience and supporting the development of rock and alternative acts in the country. By the time Chapter VI rolled around in March 2019, the event had exploded to accommodate hundreds of fans. Even during the quiet years, the team behind GATHERING remained a pillar of the community, supporting the ecosystem through various concerts and festivals like Taslaafa.

This year’s edition carries added significance as the series crosses its ten-year mark and re-establishes itself following a pause in recent years.

For its epic return, Chapter VII bridges across generations with both old and new blood on stage. This Chapter will feature a total of six acts representing different phases of the Maldivian rock movement. 

Among the highlights is the return of EMAN'S CONSPIRACY, a band making a comeback after several years of silence, adding a sense of anticipation for long-time followers.

At the other end of the spectrum is FEAR OF THE DUCK, a notably young act with members averaging around 14 years old, signaling the emergence of a new generation entering the local music scene.

Meanwhile, ZENNIA, FANTASTIC 4H FIHAARA, THE MONOCHROMACY PROJECT, and ABERRANTIS are all currently working on new material, with releases expected in the near future. Their inclusion reflects the ongoing creative momentum within the scene.

This multi-generational approach ensures that the energy of the mosh pit is shared by long-time followers and a new wave of Gen Z fans alike.

The return of GATHERING is set on 7 May 2026 at Pavilion, Rasfannu Beach, with high expectations from organizers anticipated to be capped at approximately 450 people to maintain a controlled and engaging environment.

For the fans, organizers have announced exciting news of Early Bird tickets at MVR 150, limited to the first 100 attendees. Following this phase, ticket prices are set at MVR 200.

In addition, this chapter isn’t only about high-octane performances. The event will also feature curated food vendors, beverage options, and merchandise stands, creating a cohesive live experience for attendees.

GATHERING Chapter VII is supported by a diverse range of partners across multiple tiers. Organizers noted that the involvement of these brands highlights continued interest in supporting youth culture and creative platforms.

Having crossed the ten-year mark, GATHERING Chapter VII is being positioned as more than just a concert. For many within the community, it represents continuity, resilience, and the ongoing evolution of live rock music in the Maldives.

As both returning acts and emerging artists take the stage, the event reflects a scene that has matured over time while continuing to regenerate itself.

With its blend of legacy, new energy, and community support, GATHERING Chapter VII signals that the movement it helped build is still very much alive, and moving forward.
