Alifu Dhaalu atoll Dhangethi Council has announced that it will waive garbage collection fees for all households on the island next month as a Ramadan gift.
Speaking to Mihaaru News today, Council President Muaaviyath Rasheed stated that the council currently provides garbage collection services for MVR 100 per month to approximately 180 households.
However, as a Ramadan gift, the fee will be waived for the coming month.
Dhangethi, a rising tourism and diving hotspot, has seen similar initiatives in previous years.
Last year, the council gifted every household a package containing canned tuna and pineapple.
