State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s TBEA Group Co. Ltd. to connect Male', Vilimale', and Gulhi Falhu with a high capacity transmission line. STELCO stated that the agreement aims to establish a network to meet the energy demands in the Gulhi Falhu region. A 150 MW dual fuel power plant will be constructed to enhance power generation capabilities, capable of running on both oil and gas.

The electricity grid in the area will be connected once the Thila Male' Bridge is completed. Previously, the Sinamale' Bridge facilitated the connection of the electricity grids of Male', Hulhumale', and Hulhule'.
