Saeed is charged with providing undue benefits to Blazon Inc.
Former Managing Director of FENAKA Ahmed Saeed has been charged with corruption, and the case has been forwarded for prosecution.
The Prosecutor General's Office stated that Saeed and Mariyam Dheena, the former procurement head of FENAKA, face charges for authorizing payment to Blazon Inc. in 2018 under an agreement with FENAKA, without verifying whether the company had completed the project.
Saeed and Dheena are charged with abuse of official position in the case, for providing undue benefits to Blazon.
If convicted, they face one year, seven months and six days in prison.
The PG Office said the decision resulted MVR 848,000 in damage.
While Saeed got charged over this today, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) already has an open investigation against him, over which his passport was also confiscated.
When Saeed managed FENAKA during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, the company was accused of major corruption. Allegations of the company providing undue benefits to certain cases were also escalated to the ACC.
However, the ACC did not investigate the cases or take adequate action.
