With the Southwest Monsoon currently active over the region, the MET Office predicts strong winds of 15-25 miles per hour in the northern region, with the south expected to see winds of 13-23 miles per hour. Gusts of 45-55 miles per hour are expected as well over the next five days.
A statement released by NDMA cautioned that there is a possibility of surge waves during heavy rains and high tides. They urged citizens to take proactive measures to protect goods and property.
This includes:
- taking measures to ensure flood water doesn't enter residences and other buildings
- tying down any objects that may blow away with strong winds
- switching off electric appliances when not in use
- seeking latest weather updates before any sea travels
