Generator issues causes power cuts in Addu City

Another generator issue in Addu City caused temporary power outages in several areas last night.

Fenaka Corporation, which provides electricity services to the connected islands in Addu City, informed residents through a community Viber group that power cuts would last for about an hour in various areas due to the generator problem.

The first outage occurred in the Maradhoo Bodage area, followed by another power cut around 8:10 p.m. in Maradhoo Fenaka branch area.

Residents of Addu City have long voiced frustration over recurring electricity issues, expressing concerns on social media about the lack of a permanent solution, with many believing successive governments have failed to adequately address the problem.

In April last year, Fenaka awarded a contract to China’s Dongfang Electric Corp Ltd (DEC) to find a permanent solution to the electricity issues in Addu City.
