Maldives' high court issued an injunction preventing the sale and lease of a three bedroom apartment from the Vinares flats developed in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
While HDC had decided to issue Vinares flats to those who were defrauded after paying to purchase Sealife apartments, the corporation gave only one flat to an individual who paid for two flats at Sealife.
HDC believes there is no reason to give a second apartment, prompting the individual to file a civil suit seeking the second Vinares apartment.
However, the Civil Court ruled that it was not proven that the second apartment should be give. The decision was appealed at the High Court, and requested an injunction on all transactions relating to the apartment.
High Court accepted the request and issued the interim order yesterday. The order directed that one, three-bedroom apartment in Vinares should not be sold, given, offered for sale or otherwise transferred to any person until the High Court rules on the matter.
The ruling comes despite HDC previously having told the court that there were no unallocated Vinares apartments left
