National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has advised the public to take precautionary measures as adverse weather conditions have been predicted for the next seven days.
MET Office said today that heavy rains, thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas are predicted over these new year holidays, with some islands expected to see swell waves.
These weather conditions are expected to persist from tomorrow until Sunday.
Following this, NDMA issued a caution appealing to the public to take precautionary measures to protect property and goods during these times.
As such, they advise the public to;
- Stack sandbags in entryways to prevent flood water from seeping in
- Tie down any objects that may fall during strong winds
- Switch off electrical appliances when not in use
- Seafarers to seek latest weather updates before opting to travel
