Fuvahmulah’s famed “Shark Point” has been spotlighted in the newly released Netflix show All the Sharks, which premiered yesterday, drawing international attention to one of the Maldives' southernmost island.
Known for having one of the world’s largest populations of tiger sharks, Fuvahmulah’s Shark Point has long been a magnet for divers. Now, with its feature in the show’s opening episode, the location is set to gain even greater recognition.
The first episode is dedicated entirely to Fuvahmulah, with scenes showcasing the island’s iconic palm-lined coast and pristine beaches—described in the show as unmatched in beauty across the Maldives.

In a Facebook post, Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq hailed the feature as a major milestone in promoting the island globally. He credited local dive expert Ahmed Inah for making the feature possible. Inah, who owns Pelagic Divers and has 17 years of experience in the industry, is known for offering the island’s most extensive diving services.

All the Sharks is a six-episode competition series where four teams travel to renowned shark diving sites across the globe to photograph sharks. Each shark sighting is scored based on species rarity, with rarer sharks earning higher points. The team with the most points at the end of the series wins a $50,000 prize, which must be donated to a charity of their choice.
The Netflix feature is expected to give Fuvahmulah’s marine tourism sector a significant boost by attracting more international divers and marine enthusiasts to the island.
