Maldivian band 2ofUs, currently competing in the Battle of Bands International reality show in India, made its way to the semi-finals on Thursday night.
The band performed Arjit Singh's song 'Ve Kamleya' from Karan Johar's Rocky Or Rani Ki Prem Kahani movie to secure their place in the semi-finals.
The band's vocalists Ahmed Adhuham and Mohamed Nasooh bin Nasruddin sang the song incorporating some of Adhuham's own lyrics, which got the judges, including guest judge, renowned Indian musician Salim Merchant, singing their praises.
The band's past performances also received high praise from the judges and audience even before reaching the semi-finals.
After Wednesday's performance, bands from Tajikistan, Nepal and Mauritius secured their places in the semi-finals alongside 2ofUs.
While six bands are set to compete in the semi-finals, only five bands will make it to the grand finale, where the top three bands would be selected.
'Battle of Bands' is a music competition broadcast by Indian State TV Doordarshan. While the last three years of the show featured only Indian bands, this year's show welcomed foreign bands to perform, with 2ofUs representing Maldives.
Besides Adhuham and Nasooh, the band also has Abdulla Shamrooh on the drums and Ahmed Jasheem and popular guitarist Ahmed Shaheed (Shaheed Legacy).
This year's competition has bands from Mauritius, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Singapore, Russia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Spain and the UK competing in the show.
