Reputed actor Mohamed Rasheed (Dhara), on Friday, secured the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th Dhivehi Film Awards ceremony held tonight at Olympus Cinema in the capital city of Male'.
The award was presented by the chief guest, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Rasheed worked in the film industry for 38 years after gaining prominence in the 1980s and has acted in 32 feature films and numerous dramas.
'Vishka' by Yaara Productions bagged seven awards, securing itself as the most successful among the twelve feature films and short films from the 2017-2018 period which were submitted for the Dhivehi Film Awards.
Suspense thriller 'Devansoorah' by Yoosuf Shafeeu (Yoope) was also recognised at the awards. The film received Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and the Best Director Award.
Hosted by the National Centre for the Arts, the awards recognise excellence in the cinematic field. This is the first installation of the awards to be held since the formation of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage.
