Bank of Maldives (BML) has today commenced accepting RuPay cards.

Director of Retail, Business and SME Banking Moosa Nimal commented on the convenience that the commencement of this service will present to RuPay customers in the Maldives.
"RuPay has made a significant impact on the retail payment systems in India and with its acceptance at Bank of Maldives, the widest banking network in the country, payments for RuPay users have now become easier than ever," he said.
RuPay, a product of National Payments Corporation of India, has over 300 million users now and is India's first global card payment network.
RuPay card services in Maldives was launched today during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing official State visit to India.
Before a joint press briefing following President Muizzu's meeting this afternoon with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a live video was shown of the first RuPay transaction being made in the Maldives.
