While the 2025 Annual Budget is to be submitted this week, last Thursday the government has also submitted a supplementary budget of MVR 5.1 billion to parliament. The Budget Review Committee has decided that review will be completed by the end of Monday, upon which it will be forwarded to the parliament floor for voting.
Taking into account the proposed supplementary budget, the total budget for 2024 will reach MVR 55 billion.
It is expected that the 2025 budget will also be between MVR 55 billion and 65 billion.
According to the Public Finance Act, the budget for the coming year has to be submitted before the end of October. The current budget was submitted on October 31 last year.
