The Employment Tribunal has today order Fenaka Corporation to halt appointing any person to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the company.

The order was issued in relation to a case submitted to the Tribunal by Former CFO of Fenaka Abdulla Waheed, who was earlier dismissed from the position.

Waheed has appealed to the Tribunal to rule he was wrongfully dismissed, and to reinstate him in the position. He sought a temporary order halting a new hire until the matter had reached a resolution.

The Tribunal judged that Fenaka can proceed with its work unhindered even with an interval without appointing a permanent staff to the position of CFO. They noted that they had reached this decision based on the fact that in dismissing Waheed, his work had been handed over temporarily into the care of another staff member.

Abdulla Waheed, hailing from H.A. Hoarafushi, was appointed as CFO on September 11, 2014. He was stripped of his responsibilities from October 19, 2022 and was dismissed on September 26.

His letter of termination, signed by Fenaka's Chief Human Resources Officer Usaidh Hussain, stated as a reason for his dismissal that he was being let go as per Article 34.8 (a.1.) of the company's regulation as continuing to employ him may cause a loss to the company.
