Three individuals have been arrested from Vilimale', with MVR 241,000 found on them, believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.
Three individuals have been arrested from Vilimale', with MVR 241,000 found on them, believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.
The three were arrested in a special operation conducted on Sunday by Police's Drug Enforcement Department based on information received by Counter-narcotics intelligence.
The three have been identified as:
- Ibrahim Imad, 30, Kenereege, Th. Gaadhiffushi
- Mohamed Simrah, 43, M. Windstar 1
- Salah Shihab, 45, Zamaanee Aage, GDh. Rathafandhoo
Police said that drugs had been found in their possession when they were searched following arrest. The total weight of the drugs found come to 57.78 grams, they said.
When presented in court for their remand hearing, Simrah and Salah have been placed in custody for a period of fifteen days.
Imad, however, was released. Police have now requested the Prosecutor General's office to appeal this ruling.
