The collision occurred between "SUS E Speed" speedboat and "MWSC Marine 2" speedboat.
Police have forwarded a case for prosecution involving the captains of two speedboats following a fatal collision that occurred two years ago.
The collision, which took place on April 29, 2023, near Feydhoo Finolhu at around 16:42 hrs resulted in the death of a 52-year-old passenger, who succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at ADK Hospital.
Following investigations, police determined that both captains were negligent and bear responsibility for the incident.
The individuals being prosecuted are:
- Mohamed Jameel, 43, from Haa Dhaalu atoll Nolhivaram, Greenhouse
- Yaanis Hameed, 35, from Kaafu atoll Kaashidhoo, Heenaavilla
The case was initially submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office in June 2023, but it was returned for amendments. Following revisions, the police resubmitted the case on January 15 of this year.

Police are seeking charges for negligence against both captains.
