A suspected ambergris has been found in the lagoon of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Fiyori.
The substance was discovered by Ahmed Abdulla, a resident of Fares-Maathodaa who is married to a woman from Fiyori.
Speaking to Mihaaru News, Abdullah said he spotted it floating near his speedboat as he approached the jetty after returning from a trip.
“I hesitated at first because I wasn’t sure what it was, but then I picked it up,” he said.
He said that it weighs between 300 and 400 grams.
While some who have seen it believe it to be ambergris, its authenticity has not yet been confirmed.
