President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today that urban centers will be established in seven regions of the country, providing all services at the highest level.
The establishment of these urban centers is a key presidential promise. The centers will be set up in Raa atoll Ungoofaaru, Baa atoll Eydhafushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru, Alifu Dhaalu atoll Mahibadhoo, Faafu atoll Nilandhoo, Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo, and Laamu atoll Fonadhoo.
Speaking at Mahibadhoo during his tour of three islands in Alifu Dhaalu atoll which began yesterday, President Muizzu said that the urban centers will not be limited to these seven regions alone. The goal is to make services available to every part of the country, he said.
"These facilities are being established with the concept of providing all services at the highest quality. This is essential for shaping the Maldives for long-term development," President Muizzu said.
He added that the highest level of services will be offered across various sectors, including education, health, social services, and housing.
The President also highlighted that the establishment of these urban centers would benefit the people in terms of housing and economic opportunities.
He further stated that the development will be tailored to the specific needs of the island communities. President Muizzu said that 100 housing units would be built in Mahibadhoo as per his promise.
President Muizzu arrived in Mahibadhoo this morning, where he was received by a large crowd.
